Spicy Nut Mix

This nut mix is the perfect combination of both sweet and salty and makes a great afternoon snack. Special thanks to my Dietitian colleague Shelley for sharing this with me so many years ago. It’s a staple in our pantry.

Yield: 4 cups

Prep: 5 minutes

Cook time: 20-25 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups mixed nuts (unsalted)

  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper

  • 1 tsp chili

  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes

  • 1 tsp chili paste (I use Sambal Oelek)

  • 2 tsp coarse salt

  • 2-3 Tbsp maple syrup

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350℉

Combine all ingredients in a large bowl

Spread out on a parchment-lined baking sheet

Bake, stirring every 5 minutes, for 20-25 minutes or until lightly browned

Store in an airtight container
